Radar

Start with a black image

Fill this layer with the gradient tool red (or any colour you fancy) to black on a diagonal like this

Choose a mid-tone from the image with the eyedropper and draw some lines 2 pixels thick going across the image

Now apply the distort/polar coordinates filter, rectangular to polar

Using the elliptical marquee make a circle around the image, invert the selection and cut

With the circle still selected, goto edit/transform/rotate and rotate it a bit like this

Thats it, i just added a crosshair and a few fancy bits. Grab the action on my actions page.
